Daddy
By LeAnna Gerety
(Contact: L99108@aol.com)
My sense of responsibility lost, Daddy
A clear and stable mind, never to be found
I'll stare at you with my eyes, open and wide
I am at disbelief at what my laziness has achieved
Dreaming yourself away, Daddy
I cry tears for yesterday
As we pull together, and focus on your fight
We all pray, that you won't give up tonight
By you I will stand, Daddy
In my thoughts you will be
I could have changed this, Daddy
I could have never left you side
I could have saved your life, Daddy
Just tiny little me
I wish you had put down your drink, Daddy,
So you would be here today
You'll never see your son's first step, Daddy
You'll never see his graduation day
You would have been a great father,
This I'll always know
You would have been a wonderful, Daddy
If I never let you go.
