Things I've Learned
By Heather Wright
(Contact: d.wright2@juno.com)

Life is full of hardships.
Some can be prevented.
Some are just self-caused.
Yet, both are experiences to learn from.

In my past
I've had a little bit of both.
I've had a wrong done to me,
And I've done wrong.

But through everything,
You've always been there.
From the beginning to the present,
You have never left my life.

Even after everytime I've hurt you.
I've made promise after promise,
But it never failed.
I always broke them.

But after that look of hurt in your eyes,
And the anger in your voice,
It finally got through,
Whether you believe it or not.

It does hurt me more than you, though.
To know that what I am doing to you and my other family,
But I've still done it.
I've clouded everyone's judgment of me.

But your judgment of me means most.
Even though you think poorly of me right now.
The only thing I know to say is...
I'm sorry.

I'm sorry I hurt you.
I'm sorry I let you down.
I'm sorry I've ruined the built trust.
I'm sorry that your little girl has changed.

That change was not permanent, though.
I just want everything to go back to the way it was.
So on this Father's Day, I want you to know,
I love you,
And thank you for everything
You've done for me.
Happy Father's Day, Dad.
I love you!!!
