Your Words
By Vicki Sturgiss
(Contact: horris@eisa.net.au)
I'm unlovable - perhaps,
But who are you to say?
How dare you strive
To break my spirit
And attempt
To destroy my faith.
You're my mother.
You should love me,
Not try to tear me down.
What is it I have done to you?
Why must you run me into the ground?
I pretend that you can't hurt me.
It doesn't bother me at all.
But late at night,
Alone in the dark,
Your words cut me to the core.
