Different
By Jennifer Ekstrom
(Contact: Jendamahi@aol.com)

Dedicated to the remembrance of
Matthew Shepard and
Martin Luther King

He lay beaten up on a fence,
no one to help him, he had no defense.
Murdered because they choose to hate.
The way he loved delivered his fate.

The pain grew in his heart
because his skin set him apart.
His blood ran red just like me,
But it's to bad that others didn't see
That he was a human, a man the same,
But his skin color made him ashamed.

Because they were minority,
they died from the majority.
Of hate and dislike
they died a gruesome site.
