The Opponent
By Mandi Richardson
(Contact: Americanangel013@cs.com)
As I stand at the line,
With my face to the wind,
I look at my opponent,
And the race begins.
The sun's at my back,
I'm running faster and faster,
I just can't seem to
Get myself past her.
As I begin to stop,
I start to see,
She's stopping in front;
The same as me.
You cannot beat yourself
In a race.
For me and my shadow,
Were at the same pace.
