This Day
By Eric Truitt
(Contact: BuickMusic@aol.com)
I woke upon this bitter day
Less complete than the day before.
A piece of life now taken from me
To live in peace forever more.
Eyes which looked their last at me,
Hands which comforted all my pain,
A heart that loved me more than words,
A beautiful face I can never touch again,
A voice which brought a joy within,
Laughter which warmed the coldest nights.
Always giving what she could,
Loving arms which held me tight.
So on this day I bow my head.
I face the world a bit less whole.
Though I know her love is still with me,
Resting in peace is her loving soul.
Written with everlasting love,
Your Grandson,
Eric
