Retrospective Spectacles
By Josh Shelton
(Contact: whiterabbit_00@hotmail.com)

Looking through the glasses of retrospect,
I see things I wish to correct.
All the tears I should’ve caught,
All the pain I wish was not.

Every touch etched in my mind,
Lasting feelings remain sublime.
You aren’t lost or forgotten.
Dwell not on what might have been.

Instead think of what could be,
Not necessarily between you and me.
But everyone still out there,
Loss is brutal, we know, so beware.

God is all knowing, in control,
And he knows we’re in the other’s soul.
Forever intertwined, yet connected
But who knows? what’s to be expected.

Keep smiling through your tears,
I’ll be there for infinite years.
I’ll try to dry my eyes,
And love you till my soul dies.
