Trapped
By Tracy Johnson
(Contact: SMILE224@aol.com)
never moving
never thinking
trapped
caught in the middle
can't get out
looking for an answer
searching for a reason
once it's found
it serves no purpose
praying, hoping
tomorrow will be better
realizing, knowing
it will all be the same
capturing a wisp of happiness
before it's stolen away
hidden in a deep dark place
only to be seen by those
who search long enough
a seemingly never-ending search
like trying to find a pot of gold
a prize beyond compare
a life without despair
when a real person bursts out
all others left behind
a breath of a flower makes you alive
to see the future
know the past
every moment to seek
more than the rest
as the clouds slowly drift
passing life by
the trees sway
wings of a butterfly flutter
with envy of the world
they won't understand
never will
but to know what is true
is different than to feel what is known
however they will feel what is felt
by a million creatures of the world
adding to an endless cycle
only a few can understand
the prize is greater than the consequences
but it does not benefit you
if benefits life and the world as we see it
