My Eyes
By Sandy Ratliff
(Contact: san-d-kay@home.com)

My eyes have seen into the soul of broken hearts.
Looked into the depths of anger.
They have seen the hate that has put us apart.
Seen the passion within the heart of strangers.
My eyes have seen into the fragile aches of a misled child.
Soothed the pain of their lost soles.
Searched in their minds for reasons of denile.
Seen the paths they have set for their goals.
My eyes have searched across the oceans.
Seeking answers for them to know.
Dazed into their mixed emotions.
Searching for a place that is not so cold.
My eyes have felt the tears they try to hide.
Looked into the facades they must live behind.
Seen through their blurred visions that has made them blind.
Witnessed the the pain embedded in their minds.
In these eyes there is hope,
A place for them to come home.
Love and compassion where they aren't alone.
A path for them to walk, somewhere to belong.
A covenant that will teach them no wrong.
