I can’t understand why you talk to me, need me,
why you want to be my friend.
I try so hard to run from you, but still you find me.
I get laughed at, teased and knocked down,
but yet when you come around
it seems to make all my bruises go away.
Some days I find myself at a loss for words;
I try so hard to find the right thing to say--
hoping it will be intelligent and not dimwitted.
I can’t understand why one minute I can’t
stand to be near you
and the next not willing to leave your side.
Inside I was cold and mean,
but as if a thousand fireflies flew inside of me
I became warm and bright.
The thought of you tickles me inside.
If I started to cry,
would you wipe my tears away?
