Night
By Sydney Hutchinson
(Contact: DACUL247@aol.com)

The day is joyful,
full of happiness and love.
A shadow falls across the sky,
shouts of glee turn to mournful cries of sorrow.
Where children just stood in a happy blaze,
shadows appear against the walls,
shadows that pierce fear
into the hearts of grown men,
as they trot to their homes full of light.
As the early hours of the day come near,
people sleep and dream
of days of light in anticipation.
As light falls across the sky
like life being given,
night creeps back into the crevices
like a man who knows he did wrong.
Until then my dear,
fall asleep and have dreams of light
for time has but two hands.
