To Hold
By Shannon Stephan
(Contact: nikegal34@hotmail.com)

Close your eyes my dear,
and nothing will you fear.

You're off on a journey to a new life,
All because you had a fight.

You said you needed to take a walk
Because we had a bad talk.

You walked out and never came back.
I called for you hours until I got a phone call.

The person on the other line said,
"We found your daughter dead."

I dropped the phone
and let out a dreadful moan.

The tears ran down my face.
It felt like an endless race.

Breathing was like a chore.
I didn't wanna breath anymore.

I just wanted to hold you once more,
so I raced out the door.

Ran to where you still lay,
And I whispered in your ear,

In my heart you're here to stay,
And day and night I will pray
that we will see each other again one day.
