Excuse me Ms., may I have a second?
You may not have noticed,
But I saw your heart had beckoned.
My name is no matter, my history or job,
Had I not said Hi my heart would sob.
Your beauty is great, the greatest I've seen,
Don't think me simple, don't think me mean.
I've seen you before helping others in need,
I know of your kindness, how your heart does bleed.
It's this beauty that called me here,
Your purity of heart to me is quite clear.
"A walk? Why yes I'd love to," you say,
And hand in hand we're off, away.
Days to weeks and weeks to years,
Our love has surpassed all our fears.
Knee on floor and box in hand,
Will you accept and make our love more grand?
The wedding was great, the reception, a ball,
It couldn't have been more wonderful as I recall.
Oh dear look it's quarter to ten,
I'll lie the baby down in her playpen.
The pictures piled up, memories galore,
Our time with our daughter, I just wish was more.
College and life now call her out,
And so she's off, leaving us without.
Without our girl, our baby, our dove,
We are alone now with only our love.
As our days grow short and our hair turns grey,
I thank God for you every time I pray.
My love, my wife, the mother of my child,
I remember every single time you ever smiled.
Tonight we'll lie down with a sense of peace,
We know our time's up, that our life will cease.
As we close our eyes, locked in each others gaze,
We have no regrets as the world turns to haze.
Thank you dear God for helping me find my love,
Now together forever looking down
On our child from above.
And in this instant between here and beyond,
I have a quick image of the origin of this bond.
I think back all those years when I first met my wife,
And knew right away she'd be the rest of my life.
