Ray of Hope
By Jay Bargeron
(Contact: jay_b03@yahoo.com)

One foot in front of the other, I walk on,
Amidst birds and frogs in song.
Where does this path go?
Where does it lead?
The answer, take no man’s heed.
The answer only you know,
Forever does this path go.

So I walk for eternity,
And slowly, my feet grow weary.
My legs tire and my vision dulls.
Dark phantoms enter my skull,
Saying, "Leave this path and rest my friend,
For you shall never reach the end."

Eventually, I start to the shoulder,
My mind growing colder and colder.
Wait! A light shines through,
The demons suddenly scatter and flew.
As the light grows stronger,
I find strength to walk a little longer.
