As I lie here,
Snug in my bed,
I have a thought,
Entering my head.
What if I don't live,
What if I die tonight?
What if I don't see tomorrow,
What if everything's not alright?
So, I get down on my knees
To say a little prayer.
This is life so true,
It's not a little scare.
"If I die
Before I wake
I pray the Lord
My soul to take.
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust,
In the arms
Of God I trust.
As I walk through the Valley
Of the Shadow of Death,
I pray that my Lord
Will take my last breath.
Hold me close,
Hold me tight,
Please don't let me
Die tonight."
After the moon sets,
The sun shall rise.
I pray that God,
Will open my eyes.
For all through the night,
He's held my hand,
And I finally
Do really understand.
Someone does care,
And I know that it's real.
I don't care what they think.
This is how I feel.
In the morning,
When the sun will arise,
He will be there
When I open my eyes.
And when I lie down
In the early night,
He walks me through
And holds me tight.
He is the only man
I will love and trust,
And he will protect me
From temptation and Lust.
